Project 5: Color Coded

I needed a way to be able to see all the colors of embroidery floss that I had, so I took a nice gift box someone gave me and a lot of cereal boxes and solved my problem.

It's not perfect, because color can't be arranged along one axis like that, but it serves my purposes. Well, I can't rearrange swatches quite as easily when finding a collection to use, unfortunately, but at least I know all of what I've got. The extra space is well utilized for my thread scissors, extra thread cards, and whatever colors I've pulled out for my current/next project.

Day 2: DIY = Time-consuming

Sealing and Drying

I decided what to do today too late. This is an action shot of nail polish drying. Making your own earring blanks isn't hard but it does take a while. I spent a good long time today trying to get inspired by something...perhaps when I decided excitedly what I was going to do yesterday, I should have thought ahead another day as well.

On the plus side, before my evening malaise I did manage to pack my fabric into my new vintage suitcase. The yellow notepad next to it is an inventory: Works In Progress, Potentials, and Stash. I have a lot more stash than I probably strictly need, but I'll clear up a good amount of space if I finish the projects I've already started (WIPs) and the ones I've set aside fabric for (Potentials).

Cleaning the Suitcase

A good vacuum, and then a water sponge down with a bit of soap. Should be clean enough to put fabric in now, though nothing seemed especially dirty from the start. These are all pre-cleaning pictures: tomorrow when I pack it full of fabric you'll see the after shots.

I've been unable to find any information on when this would have been produced: it looks totally dissimilar from the ones that turn up in google searches, no matter how specialized I try to get.
